The Qatar International School is a non-selective, English-medium
independent day school located in Doha, capital city of
the State of Qatar. The school follows the National Curriculum
of England and Wales (commonly referred to as the 'British
National Curriculum') for students ranging between 3 and
18 years of age.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
There is a shortage of quality school places in Doha
at present, so the school has already had to close
its waiting list for all year groups.
We will start accepting application for September
2009 entry in January 2009.

Entry Testing
Applicants are required to complete an application form
(see right) and return it to the school office together
with the supporting informaton requested on the form.
Candidates will then be invited to the school to sit an
entrance test at the next available date. For Pre-School
and Reception, this is merely an informal meeting with the
Head of Pre-School & Reception who will chat with the
children and ask them to carry out some simple tasks.
As we move up the age range, testing becomes a more formalised
examination in English and Mathematics.
Candidates will be notified of their test results by telephone
within one week of the test date. If they are successful,
they will be offered a place or, if none is available, put
on the waiting list. The majority of secondary pupils will
also attend an interview with the Head of Secondary.
Overseas Applicants
The school recognises it is not always possible for overseas
applicants to visit the school in time to sit the entry
test. In such circumstances it may be possible for the entry
test to be adminstered by their existing school on our behalf.
Please contact the School Office in the first instance to
discuss your situation.
Applicants For Years 10 -13
From the start of Year 10, students study their selected
subjects in preparation for IGCSE examinations at the end
of Year 11. This is a two year course, with many subjects
including an element of coursework and continuous assessment.
Applicants for Year 10 sit an entry test, as above, followed
by an inteview with senior teaching staff to discuss their
subject choices (see the Options Booklets
for details).
Due to the intensive nature of the IGCSE and AS Level courses,
combined with the continuous assessment of components, the
school does not normally accept students to join in Year
11 or mid-way through Year 10 or Year 12.
Applicants for Years 12 and 13 are normally asked to submit
evidence of actual and/or predicted grades, rather than
sitting an entry test. They then attend a meeting with senior
teaching staff to discuss their subject choices (see the
Options Booklets for details).
