In October the school was fortunate to host a visit from Nick Toczek.
Nick is ………. a best-selling author, a full-time professional writer and performer who currently works as a poet, magician, storyteller, puppeteer, novelist, stand-up comic, radio DJ, political researcher, creative writing tutor, journalist, librettist, advertising copy-writer, and political speech-writer.
He’s published over thirty books and has made about 40,000 public appearances. His poetry books alone have sold around half a million copies. As a writer, he’s worked with pupils from around 5,000 schools. He also performs at festivals and family events, in libraries and prisons, on radio and TV and in colleges and universities!
Nick gave presentations to all of the children from Pre-school up to and including Year Six. The performances were enjoyed by children and staff alike and included a variety of Nick’s own poems, magic tricks and some very loveable puppets. Nick then did writing workshops with each of the classes from Years Five and Six.
The children have all been inspired to write their own poems and there are samples on display around the Primary department. I’m sure you’ll agree from looking at the photographs that a good time was had by all! |
