There was great success this year for Primary PE when Year 3 and 4 girls Basketball team took 3rd place and the bronze medals at an Inter-School Competition held in Al-Jazeera Academy on 26th October.
The team members were:
Habeba Abdellah 4SM Ayaterahman Draida 4EM
Sara Shibil 4TR Nari Kim 4EM Maha Malik 4JB Thorrayya Rahimi 3HC Haya Al-Kabbi 4SM
Eleven teams from school all over Doha were pooled into two groups and a round robin style competition was played. QIS did their coaches Mrs Firth and Mr Paterson proud by winning all of their games in their pool in which they played against Doha College, English Modern School, Al Khor and Al Jazeera. The team went on to play The American School in the semi finals and were just beaten by one basket. There was a play off for third place which QIS took by beating Doha College a second time with a score of 6-2.
Congratulations to Sara, Haya and Habeba for playing exceptionally well and scoring the baskets for QIS. A special mention for Aya and Maha, who showed great talent in ball passing and well done to Thorrayya for her determination in defending during her first appearance at a competition.
A big thank you to the coaches for their hard work and for training the team in such a short time. We are now looking forward to the Year 3 and 4 Boys Basketball Competition at the American School on the 5th of November. This will be followed by the Year 3 and 4 boys Football on the 18th of November at The Learning Centre at Qatar Foundation. We wish both teams lots of luck and all parents are invited to come along to watch them in action. |
