Science
At Qatar International School we believe that children need to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to aid them in a world that is already dominated by science and technology. Science helps children to think in a logical way about everyday events and to solve practical problems. Science promotes intellectual development and skills that are useful across the curriculum and in everyday life. During their time at Qatar International School children will discover more about life processes and living things, materials and their properties and physical processes which occur in the world around us. In Key Stage One and Key Stage Two at Qatar International School children are taught by a specialist science teacher in two laboratories. Years One, Two and Three are taught science for one hour per week, Year 4 children have ninety minutes in total and years Five and Six are taught twice weekly for one hour each lesson. The Science Directions scheme of work is followed which is a carefully structured programme of science teaching and reflects the content of the British National Curriculum. At Qatar International School we aim to help children progress in: - Skills
- The knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts
- The social skills that support practical investigations in groups
Through science at Qatar International School children gain curiosity towards and respect for all living and non-living things. Science at our school is fun, with children having access to fabulous resources in a positive learning environment.
