The Qatar International School was founded by Mrs. Griffin (the Principal) as a small Pre-School unit in 1977 in Montaza. It has operated continuously under the same management since then, developing into one of the largest independent British School in Qatar.
The Primary Section opened in 1985, followed by the Secondary Section in 1994. There are now around 1,500 students on the role, ranging from 3 to 18 years of age.
After initially operating out of converted villas, the school moved onto its first purpose-built campus in 1996 in the Mamoura area of Doha. This provided the specialist facilities required by the rapidly-growing Secondary Section.
A further move in 2001 allowed a further significant expansion in space and facilities, taking us to our existing campus in Dafna (West Bay).
